In this session, we will explore the potential of optical genome mapping (OGM) in addressing hematological malignancy and complex genetic disease insights. Our speakers’ discussions will showcase the leading-edge applications and impacts of OGM in revolutionizing the understanding and management of hematological and constitutional diseases across Europe.  

The session will open with Darisha Jiandani, Director of Product Management at Bionano, presenting the latest breakthroughs in OGM innovation. She will showcase the Stratys™ system, Bionano’s latest high-throughput OGM analysis instrument known for its substantial sample capacity and versatility in genetic workflows. Following Ms. Jiandani, Dr. Toon Janssen and Dr. Ben Caljon from BRIGHTcore Lab at UZ Brussel and Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc will discuss OGM implementation as a key platform for hematological malignancy assessment. They will share their firsthand OGM experiences and insights, including applying the Stratys system in their laboratory, with a focus on hematological malignancies and constitutional diseases. Concluding the presentations, Elly De Vlieghere, a molecular biologist at AZ Sint-Jan Brugge-Oostende AV in Bruges, will discuss the implementation of OGM for analysis of AML and ALL samples. Highlighting the pivotal role of OGM in the second accredited center in Belgium, she will present findings from a use case study that underscore the system’s efficacy and reliability.
